Antibacterial Products
General Characteristics of Biome Technology
Sweat, on its own, is not a body fluid that produces odor. However, due to factors like dirt, moisture, and temperature that trigger the growth of microorganisms present on textiles, odor develops over time in fabrics. This situation can lead to more serious health risks in environments like hospitals. BI-OME, used in a wide range of products from socks to underwear, from beds to pillows, and even from carpets to curtains, provides hygiene and a sense of cleanliness. By forming a bond with the textile, it becomes permanent on the fabric and, at the same time, is a safe BI-OME technology that does not contain heavy metals. Bio-me AM5, Bi-ome AM10 ve Bi-ome NTL is available in three different products.
How does it work?
BI-OME® works in three steps.
- The microbes adhering to the fabric are drawn towards them by a molecular-based protective shield previously applied to the fabric.
- Microbes encountering physical friction and electrical effects have their cell membranes damaged, leading to punctures.
- This condition renders the microorganism ineffective, preventing its growth and reproduction.
– Does not transfer to the skin, does not contaminate the environment.
Provides excellent skin tolerance (OECD 406, HRIPT).
Does not contain heavy metals, silver, TBT, formaldehyde, triclosan, or arsenic.
Non-toxic to wastewater bacteria (activated sludge).
Possesses biodegradable properties (OECD 209 / 302B).
Registered in BPR and EPA.
– Licensed as per the Turkish Ministry of Health Regulation on Biocidal Products. (License No; Biome AM10: 2020/56, Biome AM5: 2013/124, Biome NTL: 2022/113).
BI-OME® is different from silver-based products because:
- Silver is an antimicrobial product that migrates into the environment.
- Silver acts by strongly binding to critical biological molecules such as proteins, DNA, and RNA, disrupting their functions.
- Silver can disrupt the recycling of fabrics as it remains in the fabric.
Application Method
Spraying onto fibers/fabric
– As the final process after rinsing following the fixation bath
Through scarf processing
Through foam processing
– It is effective against a wide range of bacteria, yeasts, molds, and fungi, which we refer to as microbes.
– Its functionality continues throughout the product's lifespan.
It does not release into the skin or the environment.
It prevents odor formation.
It has superior security and a record profile.
It has high washing durability.
3 Types of Change
BI-OME® Rapid drying (+ moisture transfer)
BI-OME® Stretch (+ stretch recovery)
BI-OME® Medical (+ enhanced activity)
Bi-ome AM5 and Bi-ome AM10 are registered products under the "Biocidal Products Regulation" in Europe and the "Biocidal Products Regulation" in Turkey, licensed by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey.
When applied to textiles, Bi-ome AM5 and Bi-ome AM10 create a surface resistant to bacteria, mold, and fungi.
Bi-ome AM5 and Bi-ome AM10 are water-based solutions of Bi-ome AM72: dimethyl dioctadecyl [3- (trimethoxysilyl) propyl] ammonium chloride.
The BI-OME® technology is an organofunctional silane. The characteristic of this molecule is its ability to tightly bond to a wide range of textile surfaces and other similar molecules. As a result, it forms a highly durable and non-migrating (non-leaching) polymeric coating with a lethal effect on microorganisms upon contact.
Advantages
- By preventing the proliferation of bacteria and fungi that cause odor formation, it maintains the sensation of cleanliness in textile products for an extended period.
- By disrupting the food chain of dust mites and eliminating their ability to digest food, it maintains the hygiene of textiles.
- By neutralizing microorganisms that come into contact with textiles, it prevents their transmission to other individuals.
- It does not wash away from the textile surface with repeated washings. With successful application of Bi-ome technology, the antimicrobial effect lasts for more than 100 washes.
Features
- The BI-OME® technology ensures the trust of over 30 years of experience.
- It is easy to apply, compatible with numerous application processes, and can be applied to all natural and synthetic fibers and fabrics.
- It is odorless and colorless; it enhances the hand of most textile surfaces.
- It allows for an easy quality control system: After the textile product has undergone processing, it is possible to visually detect whether the antimicrobial agent is present on the fabric using a simple analytical method. This control process can even be applied to products available for sale in stores.
- It is listed in Class 1 of the chemical substances compliant with Oeko-Tex 100 Standards. All kinds of scientific and laboratory support are available.
- It has no negative effect on abrasion resistance and light fastness.
- It is listed in the European Biocidal Products Regulation (EU) (528/2012) with the CAS number 27668-52-6.
Bi-ome Natural is an antimicrobial product based on natural active ingredient, flaxseed oil. The product protects textile materials against odors and fungi caused by bacteria.
Plant-Based Product
In textiles, alternative ways are being explored for the use of more sustainable products. Many plants produce antimicrobial chemicals as a defense mechanism against threats such as bacteria, fungi, and mold. These plant-based, natural, and biocidal components have inspired the development of the "Odor Control Technology" product range.
Advantages
- It is an active product against microorganisms.
- It is a 100% natural, renewable, sustainable, and recyclable product.
- t prevents odor formation in textiles.
- It is resistant to washing.
- It does not contain GMOs.
- It is included in the European Biocidal Products Regulation (EU) (528/2012).
Auxiliary Products
Devatec NTA/1:
Devatec NTA/1 is a water-based dispersion of reactive polymers specially designed to be used in conjunction with Bi-ome NTL technology on textile products that may contain anionic residues (from auxiliary chemicals, dyes, or optical brighteners).
Devatec NTA/1 is specifically designed to optimize Bi-ome NTL applications for clothing and sportswear. Its use in formulations ensures more efficient dispersion of Bi-ome NTL molecules. Additionally, the Devatec NTA/1 polymer blend will enhance hydrophilicity, fixation, and therefore washing durability.
Devatec NTA/1 can be used in conjunction with Bi-ome NTL in methods such as padding, spraying, foam, and exhaustion.
Devatec NA:
Devatec NA is a water-based dispersion of reactive polymers specially designed for use with Biome on substrates that may contain anionic residues (auxiliary chemicals, dyes, or optical brightening agents).
It is particularly suitable for polyamide and polyester fabrics and blends.
