Our Flame Retardant Fabrics
Have you not yet acquainted yourself with our Oeko-Tex certified flame retardant barrier fabrics?
In every aspect of our lives, textile products made from synthetic and natural fibers pose a significant danger in fire situations. Due to today's lifestyle, there has been an increase in crowded residential areas, and technological advancements have led to even greater use of synthetic textile products. Both factors have increased the risk of fire and consequently the potential loss and damage. This situation makes the use of flame retardant textile products inevitable.
The primary objective in obtaining flame retardant products is to slow down the rapid progression of fire and reduce the emission of toxic gases during a fire. The aim here is for people in the vicinity to notice the fire when it occurs, take precautions, and safely evacuate from their location, ultimately saving lives. Additionally, key expectations from flame retardant products include maintaining their flame-retardant properties throughout their lifespan, ease of application, and being composed of environmentally friendly chemicals.
There are several methods for producing flame retardant upholstery fabrics, with the most common being coating the back of upholstery fabrics with flame retardant chemicals. An increasingly popular alternative solution is to laminate flame retardant fabric onto the back of upholstery fabric. We offer two different types of products that meet international textile standards (OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100) and possess this feature.
- FR Bariyer CM 130: 100% cotton supreme fabric treated with special halogen-free flame retardant chemicals.
- FR Bariyer CVC 90: It is a nonwoven fabric made of 100% viscose content, treated with halogen-free flame retardant finishing chemicals.
Flame retardant treated barrier fabrics laminated onto upholstery fabrics prevent seam opening; increase fabric abrasion resistance; provide durable and robust support to the upholstery fabric. In the event of external exposure of the upholstery fabric to a flame, even if the synthetic upholstery fabric on the surface melts and punctures, the FR Barrier fabric laminated behind it chars, preventing the flame from reaching and spreading to the sponge. This way, it enables compliance with BS5852 P1 and P2 standards.
